Did you know?"The Start of IBM"

The 1890 US Census was expected to take more than 10 years to tabulate by hand. Dr. Herman Hollerith proposed that the data be tabulated by a machine of his creation, which was powered both electronically and mechanically and used punched cards. Hollerith's machine was successful and he went on to found a company that later became International Business Machines, known today as IBM.
